The indicator light and brake
warning light are on permanently:
DSC, DTC and DBC are switched
off or faulty.
The stabilising action described above is
consequently no longer available.
However, the car can be driven normally
without DSC.
In the event of a fault, please contact BMW
Service.
Activating Dynamic Traction Control
(DTC)
In the following exceptional situations it
may be best to activate DTC for a short
time:
>
If the car has to be rocked out of a
hollow or a soft surface, or started in deep
snow or on a loose surface
>
If driving on snow-covered inclines, in
deep snow or on packed snow
>
If snow chains are fitted.
Select "Settings". Select "DTC" and
confirm. DTC is activated. The "DTC" indi-
cator light in the info display comes on.
With DTC activated, up to approx.
70 km/h (approx. 43 mph) DSC is only
available with restrictions. The stabilising
action is reduced.
<
Deactivating DTC again
Select "Settings". Select "DTC" and
confirm. DTC is deactivated. The "DTC"
indicator light in the info display goes out.
Switching off DSC
Select "Settings". Select "DSC" and
confirm. DSC is shut down. The "DTC" indi-
cator light in the info display remains on
permanently.
When DSC is switched off, DTC is automat-
ically deactivated. In this case, neither the
engine nor the brakes will be manipulated
to promote stability and traction.
A message appears in the Check Control.
Observe the supplementary information in
the control display.
To maintain dynamic stability, drive
with the system switched on at all
times if possible.
<
Switching on DSC again
Select "Settings". Select "DSC" and
confirm. DSC is switched on. The indicator
light in the info display goes out.
Not even DSC can overcome the laws
of physics. It is therefore the driver's
responsibility to adopt a suitable driving
style in every situation. Avoid taking any
risks on account of the additional safety
afforded by this system. With DTC acti-
vated, up to approx. 70 km/h (approx.
43 mph) DSC is only available with restric-
tions. The stabilising action is reduced.
Make no modifications to the DSC system.
All work on the DSC should be entrusted
only to skilled, authorised personnel.

Dynamic Brake Control (DBC)
If the brake pedal is pressed down rapidly,
this system automatically boosts the
braking force to a maximum and thus helps
to pull the car up in the shortest possible
distance when a full brake application is
