Tyre pressures
Information for your safety
The radial-ply tyres approved for your car
are matched to its characteristics and, if
used properly, ensure both optimum road
safety and the desired level of ride comfort.
The condition of the tyres and maintenance
of the correct tyre pressures not only influ-
ence tyre life but are also decisive factors in
ride quality and above all in road safety.
Incorrect pressures are often a cause of
tyre problems. They also have a consider-
able effect on the roadholding of your
BMW.
Check tyre pressures regularly (at
least every two weeks and before
starting a long journey). Incorrect tyre pres-
sures can adversely affect the car's road-
holding and cause tyre damage, which
could result in an accident.
Remember to check the spare wheel's tyre
pressure as well. The spare wheel should
be inflated to the highest pressure
quoted.

Checking pressures
All tyre pressures in the tables on the next
page are shown in the units of measure-
ment bar/kPa/psi for tyres at ambient
temperature.
In trailer mode, the tyre pressure must be
raised to 2.8 bar at the front axle and to
3.3 bar at the rear axle.
Cars with Tyre Pressure Control (RDC):
After correcting tyre pressures, re-initialise
the system, see page 90.
Make sure that only approved tyres
are fitted
These tyre pressures apply to sizes and
makes of tyre approved by BMW and
known to BMW Service. If other makes of
tyre are fitted to the car, higher tyre pres-
sures may be needed.
