The indicator light changes from
green to red and the AUTO P logo in the
info display goes out.
Before moving off, either release the
parking brake manually by briefly pressing
the button, see page 58, or activate Auto-
matic Hold again, see page 59.
Before leaving the car with the engine
still running, engage the automatic
transmission position P and ensure that the
parking brake is applied. The car could
otherwise start to move.
Do not leave the car unattended with the
engine running, as this constitutes a
hazard.
<
Automatic Hold is automatically deac-
tivated if any movement of the car on
a slippery surface is identified.
Observe the messages in the Check
Control. For further details of Check
Control, see page 78.
<
Malfunctions
If a malfunction occurs, the indicator
light in the info display lights up
yellow and a message appears in the
Check Control. Also observe the supple-
mentary information provided in the control
display.
Manual release of parking brake
In the event of power failure, e.g. if the
battery is flat or disconnected, or if there is
an electrical fault, you can release the
parking brake manually.
Before releasing the parking brake
manually and each time you park the
car with the parking brake released, make
sure that position P of the automatic trans-
mission is engaged, see page 62. Check
the info display reading.
If the car has to be left on a steep slope,
always take additional precautions to
prevent the car from rolling away, e.g. use
the wheel chock, see page 281. There is
otherwise a risk of the car rolling away
when the parking brake is released manu-
ally, depending on how steep the slope is.
<
If the automatic transmission's interlock
likewise has to be released manually, e.g.
in the event of a flat battery, always adhere
to the following sequence:
1. Depending on the circumstances, first
release the parking brake manually
2. Then release the automatic transmis-
sion's interlock manually, see page 64.
Jump-starting and towing away, see
pages 284 and 285.
