The vehicle will lean over further when
cornering and under the influence of cross-
winds, and the suspension response will be
noticeably softer when cornering.
If a Check Control message instructing you
to stop the car appears in addition to the
red symbol, pull over immediately and
switch off the engine. In this instance, the
oil level in the reservoir may have fallen
below the minimum level, possibly due to a
leak in the hydraulic system.

the control display.

Electronic Damping Control
(EDC)

If influencing factors such as road surface
quality or operating conditions such as
steering, braking etc. change, the damping
action is modified automatically in a frac-
tion of a second to suit the new situation.
Comfort program
The Comfort program is activated each
time the engine is started, and can be
maintained for any vehicle load and across
the entire road-speed range of the car.
Sport program
With the ignition switched on, activate
"Settings" in the menu.
The Sport program should be called up if
you prefer a pronounced sports character-
istic for the shock absorbers and steering.
Tyre Pressure Control
(RDC)

The principle
RDC monitors the air pressure in all four
tyres when the car is being driven. The
system reports any significant loss of pres-
sure in one or more tyres.
So that RDC can learn the correct tyre
pressures, first compare the pressures of
all tyres with the tyre pressure table on
page 269 and correct them if necessary.
Then initialise the system.
This symbol in the Check Control
informs you if the pressure of a tyre
deviates from the learned values. A
message comes on at the same time.

the control display.

RDC is unable to warn the driver of
sudden, severe tyre damage caused
by outside influences.

Initialising the system
1. Switch on the ignition with the car at a
standstill
2. Select "RDC" in the menu "Settings" and
confirm. The initialising menu is displayed.
