Diagnostics
Online Diagnostics
There are two Hewlett-Packard Online Diagnostic methods available:
❏ SupportWave
❏ SYSDIAG (not available on 10.20 9707 or later)
Using SupportWave
HP-UX uses a diagnostics product called SupportWave. SupportWave contains the
Support Tools Manager that allows you to verify your system operation.
NOTE
For HP-UX Operating Systems 10.10 or later, the Support Tools Manager
will replace SupportWave as the primary diagnostic tool.
As a superuser (logged in as
root
), you can access the Support Tools Manager while in a
terminal window. If you are using HP VUE as your interface, you can also access the
Support Tools Manager through
sys_admin
directory.
Three interfaces are available with the Support Tools Manager:
1. A command line interface (accessed through
cstm
command).
2. A menu-driven interface (accessed through the
mstm
command).
3. A graphical user interface (accessed through the
xstm
command).
For more information on SupportWave user interfaces, see the online man pages by
entering the following at a command line prompt:
❏ man cstm [Enter]
❏ man mstm [Enter]
❏ man xstm [Enter]
To run SupportWave from either HP VUE or the HP-UX command line shell, perform
the following steps:
1. In a terminal window, to invoke the command line interface, type the following at the
# prompt:
#cstm
[Enter]
2. At the CSTM> prompt, you can enter several commands. To see what commands are
available, type the
help
command.
3. To verify the system operation, type the following at the CSTM> prompt:
CSTM> verify all
[Enter]
