6.13.2 FUSING DRIVE AND RELEASE MECHANISM
The main motor [A] drives the fusing unit through a gear train and drives the paper exit
rollers [B] through a timing belt [C].
The fusing unit release mechanism automatically disengages the fusing unit drive gear [D]
when the right cover [E] is opened. This allows the fusing unit drive gear to rotate freely so
that misfed paper can easily be removed.
Also, the fusing drive is released by the fusing drive release solenoid [F]. To reduce the
warming up time, the machine cuts the drive to the fusing unit during warming up. Just after
the main switch is turned on, this solenoid is energized and the fusing unit drive gear [D] is
disengaged.
However, the fusing unit drive is not released when the temperature is lower than 15 °C.
6.13.3 FUSING ENTRANCE GUIDE SHIFT MECHANISM
The entrance guide [A] is adjustable for paper thickness to prevent creasing. The left screw
holes [B] on each side are used as the default setting.
