Out of specification → Replace the brush
holder.
7. Check:
• Gear teeth
Damage/wear → Replace the gear.

ASSEMBLING THE STARTER MOTOR
1. Install:
• Brush holder
• Armature assembly
• O-ring

a. Pull both the brush spring “1” and the brush
“2” outside and hook the brush spring to
the groove portion at the side of the brush.
b. Insert the armature assembly “3” into the
brush holder “4” and push the brush “5”
inside until it touches the armature assem-
bly.

2. Install:
• Rear cover “1”
Align the tab “a” on the brush holder “2” with
the tab “b” in the rear cover.
3. Install:
• Washer
•Nut “1”
4. Install:
• Starter motor yoke “1”
• Gaskets “2”
• Front cover “3”
• Starter motor assembling bolts “4”

19.01–28.51 oz)
