Operation
Page
Page is the highest priority in the
System and supersedes all of the
other categories. It consists of a live
voice announcement made using the
microphone or telephone handset at
the command console, or using a
remote telephone. (Using a remote
telephone is called Wardens Page;
see the discussion that follows.)
Evac
Evac is the second highest priority. It
supersedes an Alert or Other tone, but
is superseded by a Page announce-
ment. You can program the tone you
want for this signal using CSG-M; for
example, a series of whoops to signal
an evacuation. You can send this tone
to all zones or to selected zones. When
superseded in a particular zone, an
Evac will become active again when
the Page is finished.
Alert
Alert is the third highest priority. It
supersedes an Other tone, but will be
superseded by a Page announcement
or an Evac tone. You can program the
tone you want for this signal using
CSG-M; for example, a wailing tone to
signal an important event, but one not
serious enough to warrant an Evac
tone. You can send this tone to all
zones or to selected zones. When
superseded in a particular zone, an
Alert will become active again when
the Evac or Page is finished.
Other
Other is the lowest priority and is
superseded by a Page announcement
or an Evac or Alert tone. Other is a
multipurpose category, hence its name;
it can be supplied by an MXLV-resident
tone generator or an external audio
source (a background music system).
Press EXT SOURCE to select the exter-
nal source.
You can relabel the Other function
buttons ALL OTHER and SEL OTHER to
identify the kind of audio available in the
Other Category (e.g., ALL MUSIC, SEL
MUSIC).
NOTE: When a tone, such as Alert, is
superseded by a higher priority tone,
such as Evac, the lower priority tone
reactivates once the higher priority tone
is deactivated. You can avoid this by
deactivating the lower priority tone
before activating the higher priority tone.
