Repairs and Adjustments
ADJ 8.2 Lead Edge Registration
Purpose
The purpose is to adjust the print media to the image on the drum for Lead Edge Registration
within specification.
Prerequisite
1. Check the following:
a. Fuser Temperature (NVM) (ADJ 10.1)
b. Vertical Magnification (ADJ 8.1)
Check
1. Enter diagnostics.
2. Enter code [0955] and make four 210 mm prints of Test Pattern #7.
3. Allow the prints to cool for five minutes.
4. (Figure 1): Using the last print, check that the distance from the lead edge to the first hor-
izontal line is 16.25mm ± 2 mm.

Adjustment
1. (Figure 2): Enter code [0860] in order to adjust the Lead Edge Registration. The following
message is displayed.

2. (Figure 3): Select the type of media. The following message is displayed. (In this exam-
ple, bond paper media has been selected.)

NOTE: The range of adjustment is 0 to 40. Each step equals approximately 1 mm.
3. Adjust the Lead Edge Registration using the Previous / Next buttons.
a. Use the Previous button to decrease the set point, which will move the image closer
to the lead edge.
b. Use the Next button to increase the set point, which will move the image away from
the lead edge.
c. Press the Enter button in order to store the value in NVM.
d. Press the Exit button two times.
4. Repeat the check for all the types of media used by the customer.
