Chapter 9. HART® Operations

9.11.5 The Measurement of Loop Current with a Parallel HART Connection

When connected with a parallel HART® connection it is not possible to measure current on

annel 2. To measure the loop current and/or do a current loop trim, it is necessary to use the

Channel 1 current measure function.

• Use the instructions in Section 9.2 on page 109 and Section 9.3 on page 109 to prepare the

instrument to use the HART function.

• Tap on the CUSTOM TASK to select this mode.

• Set the CH1 channel to Current Measure and the CH2 channel to None.

• Set the communicator channel to HART. Make sure the HART RESISTOR is off (the

checkbox must be empty).

• Set INTERNAL LOOP POWER to ON: tick the checkbox.
