11.10 Profibus® Application – Communication
11.10.1 Device Focus View
This view has the specific information of the device, for example:
• Device Descriptor.
• Device Type.
• Block List with Target / Actual Mode.
When the Device Focus view starts, the software loads the Blocks of the target field device,
w
h
ich makes them available for parameterization.

There are three types of blocks:

Icon Block Name Description
Resource Devices only have one resource block.
Specifies the general characteristics of the device. For example,

vice type, manufacturer ID and serial number.
Transducer Reads the physical sensor information.
Functions as a coupler between the function blocks and the physical
se
nsors.
Function Gives the control by talking to the transducer blocks to set the Inputs
an
d Outputs.
Devices can have a defined set of functions they can perform, e.g.

alog Input (AI).
