Connecting a
VNX5700 or
VNX7500 array
Use Figure 80 on page 117 to connect the Fibre Channel cables from the blades to the
VNX SPs. You must use SFPs to connect the ports (“SFP modules” on page 43
provides more information):
Note: Figure 80 on page 117 shows only the first four cable connections for
illustration purposes. The following steps describe how to connect the cables for a
maximum VNX VG8 configuration (8 blades). The maximum number of connections
depends on the availability of ports in the VNX SPs.
1. Connect blade 2, slot 0, port 0 to SP A slot 4, port 0 (cable 1 in Figure 80 on
page 117).
2. Connect blade 2, slot 0, port 1 to SP B slot 4, port 0 (cable 2 in Figure 80 on
page 117).
3. Connect blade 3, slot 0, port 0 to SP A slot 4, port 1 (cable 3 in Figure 80 on
page 117).
4. Connect blade 3, slot 0, port 1 to SP B slot 4, port 1 (cable 4 in Figure 80 on
page 117).
5. Connect blade 4 slot 0, port 0 to SP A slot 4, port 2.
6. Connect blade 4 slot 0, port 1 to SP B slot 4, port 2.
7. Connect blade 5 slot 0, port 0 to SP A slot 4, port 3.
8. Connect blade 5 slot 0, port 1 to SP B slot 4, port 3.
9. Connect blade 6 slot 0, port 0 to SP A slot 3, port 0.
10. Connect blade 6 slot 0, port 1 to SP B slot 3, port 0.
11. Connect blade 7 slot 0, port 0 to SP A slot 3, port 1.
12. Connect blade 7 slot 0, port 1 to SP B slot 3, port 1.
13. Connect blade 8 slot 0, port 0 to SP A slot 3, port 2.
14. Connect blade 8 slot 0, port 1 to SP B slot 3, port 2.
15. Connect blade 9 slot 0, port 0 to SP A slot 3, port 3.
16. Connect blade 9 slot 0, port 1 to SP B slot 3, port 3.
