The blades and Control Station communicate with each other by using a private
LAN. By default, this network uses IP addresses on the 128.221.252 and 128.221.253
subnets.
Note: During fresh installs of NAS software, the private LAN addresses can be changed, if
required; otherwise, the installation program uses default addresses.
If the customer’s existing public IP network also uses addresses on these subnets, you
need to change the private network addresses of the VNX gateway to different
subnets. The VNX gateway cannot have the same subnets configured for both its
private (internal) and public (external) network connections. Multiple VNX gateways
can all use the same private LAN addresses without conflict. “Configuring the
private (internal) LAN” on page 25 provides more information.
During Control Station installation, the setup script will prompt you for these
addresses. You can either accept the default values or enter the new addresses at that
time. The script changes the blade addresses to match what you enter for the Control
Station.
Primary private LAN
Table 14 lists the default primary private LAN addresses.
Fill in the new address value you want to use. The first three octets of the address are
the same for all components in the network. Note that the final octet of the addresses
must be the value shown in the table.
The netmask is always 255.255.255.0.
