Connect Cables for a Fabric-connected VG2
EMC CONFIDENTIAL
Connecting a
VNX7500 array
The VNX7500 SP has from 4 to 14 ports to connect to SAN fabrics. If all of the SAN
ports on the array are already connected to the fabric, you need not change these
connections. If the array has two available ports on each SP, the recommended
practice is to cable these ports to the switches and dedicate them to the VNX gateway
system.
If you are using two switches to connect a VNX7500 array, connect the cables as
shown in the example in Figure 27.
Figure 27 VNX7500 connected to two switches for high availability (example)
The array SAN ports 2 and 3 are used in this example, but you can use any two
available ports on each SP:
1. Connect SP A slot 0, port 2 to switch A.
2. Connect SP B slot 0, port 2 to switch A.
3. Connect SP A slot 0, port 3 to switch B.
4. Connect SP B slot 0, port 3 to switch B.
5. Record the SP ports you connected to the switch ports by using the “FC/FCoE
cabling worksheet” on page 273.
