Complete Phase 3 Installation
EMC CONFIDENTIAL
While the FC switch is being automatically zoned, there should be no other
administration of the SAN or FC switches through other management tools. This is
to prevent concurrent switch zoning actions on the SAN.
Note: If you receive an error message about being unable to determine the switch make and
model, enter Yes to re-enter the switch information or enter No to stop the automatic
configuration. If you select No, Appendix F, “Manually Zone Switches and Configure System
LUNs,”on page 232 provides more information.
5. To continue, type yes, and then press Enter.
The array has been added to the gateway system. However, the array will not appear
on the system until you create a user LUN and add it to the storage group. “Create
control LUNs on VNX array” on page 237 provides more information.
Adding a Symmetrix
array
A gateway system can store data on more than one array (DMX, VMAX, or VMAXe).
The first array configured is always the boot array and must contain the control
LUNs or hypervolumes (Symmetrix).
The EMC E-Lab Interoperability Navigator on Powerlink provides the number and
types of arrays supported.
Complete the following steps to make an additional Symmetrix array available to the
blades:
1. Zone the Fibre Channel switch to allow the blades to connect to the array.
Appendix F, “Manually Zone Switches and Configure System LUNs” provides
instructions on manually zoning Fibre Channel switches by WWN.
2. Have the EMC administrator create the hypervolumes as needed.
3. Make the new hypervolumes available to the gateway system.
