EMC VNX VG2/VG8 Gateway Configuration Setup Guide

Install and Configure EMC NAS Software
EMC CONFIDENTIAL
While the FC switch is being automatically zoned, perform no administration of
the SAN or the switches through other management tools. This restriction will
prevent concurrent switch zoning actions on the SAN.
The setup script cannot perform automatic zoning on the FC switch if:
◆ The switch password is still set to its default value. You must change the default
switch password before continuing.
◆ The switch contains uncommitted or unsaved configurations. You must save
uncommitted or unsaved configurations before you continue.
◆ The VNX gateway and storage array are attached to different switches.
If you want to manually perform these actions, refer to Appendix F, “Manually Zone
Switches and Configure System LUNs.”
If there are two Control Stations in your configuration, verify that CS 1 is not
powered up when you perform the installation on CS 0. If CS 1 is powered up
during this step, the installation will fail.
Procedure
1. If the VNX gateway system has an FCoE I/O module in boot slot 0 of the blade
enclosures, follow the steps in Primus article emc275739 before continuing.
2. Verify that the power cable for CS 1 is not plugged into the cabinet PDP.
3. Connect the null modem cable from the serial port on the back of CS 1 (Figure 93)
to the service laptop.

4. Open a HyperTerminal session by using the following settings: 19200 bits per
second, 8 data bits, parity None, 1 stop bit, flow control None. Set terminal
emulation to ANSI. Typically this is done by using COM 1.
5. The Express Install steps that follow differ depending on the File OE release you
are installing. If the File OE release is:
• 7.0 or lower, follow the steps in “Express Install for File OE release 7.0 or
lower” on page 202
• 7.1 or higher, follow the steps in “Express Install for File OE Release 7.1 or
higher” on page 217
6. After the successful installation of CS 0, go to “Step 3: Install latest File OE on
CS 1” on page 141.
