12- and 15-digit fax log codes
Fax log reports include a diagnostic code to help identify fax sending and receiving status and problems. Print
the report from the Fax, Setup, or Reports menu on the printer or fax machine.
Use the following list to identify the meaning of each number in various diagnostic codes.
1st digit: No meaning; always set to 0
2nd digit: How the fax ended
• [1] Stop button was pressed
• [2] Receiving fax disconnected
• [4] Memory full and the session may terminate
• [8] Operator alert was requested
3rd digit: Fax session type
• [1] Received from a remote transmitter
• [2] Transmitted to a remote receiver
• [4] Polled receive, system became a transmitter
• [8] Polling transmit, system became a receiver
4th digit: Training options that were requested or set
• [1] Transmitting Subscriber Identification TSI or Caller Subscriber Identification was received
• [2] Retrain/Fallback was requested
• [4] ECM (Error Correction Mode) was selected
• [5] ECM was not selected
5th digit:
• [1] Delayed operation
• [2] Broadcast operation
• [4] Speed dial was used by the sender
• [8] Automatic document feeder was used; document was not sent from memory
6th digit: Resolution and coding methods
• [0] Standard resolution/MH (modified Huffman) coding
• [1] Standard resolution/MR (modified Read) coding
• [2] Standard resolution/MMR (modified Read) coding
• [4] Fine resolution/MH (modified Huffman) coding
