ystemmonitoringandadaptation
Toensureoptimumperformance,aftertheinitiallinearizationprocessiscompletetheEVcontinues
tomonitorandadaptthecompasslinearizationtosuitcurrentconditions.
Iftheconditionsforlinearizationarelessthanideal,theautomaticlinearizationprocesstemporarily
pausesuntilconditionsimproveagain.Thefollowingconditionscancausethelinearizationprocess
totemporarilypause:
•Boatspeed<3knots.
•Boatspeed>15knots.
•Rate-of-turnistooslow.
•Significantmagneticinterferenceispresent.
Compasslock
Onceyouaresatisfiedwiththecompassaccuracy,youcanlockthesettingtopreventthesystem
fromcompletingafurtherautomaticlinearizationinthefuture.
Thisfeatureisparticularlyusefulforvesselsinenvironmentsthatareexposedtostrongmagnetic
disturbancesonaregularbasis(suchasoffshorewindfarmsorverybusyrivers,forexample).In
thesesituationsitmaybedesirabletousetheCompasslockfeaturetodisablethecontinuous
linearizationprocess,asthemagneticinterferencemaybuildaheadingerrorovertime.
Note:Thecompasslockmaybereleasedatanytime ,toallowthecompasscontinualmonitoring
andadaptationtore-commence.Thisisparticularlyusefulifplanningalongvoyage.Theearth’s
magneticfieldwillchangesignificantlyfromonegeographicallocationtoanother,andthe
compasscancontinuallycompensateforthechanges,ensuringyoumaintainaccurateheading
datathroughoutthevoyage.
L ockingthecompass
Followthestepsbelowtolockthecompasslinearization.
FromthePilotset-upmenu: Homescreen>Settings>Autopilot>Pilotset-up.
1.Selectthe CompassLocktoggleoptionsothatitisenabled(Green)..
Thecompasslinearizationisnowlockedandautomaticlinearizationwillnolongerbeperformed.
6.2Autopilotcontrol
Y ourMFDcanbeintegratedwithanEvolutionautopilotsystemandactastheautopilot’scontroller.
Pleaserefertothedocumentationsuppliedwithyourautopilotfordetailsoninstallingandconnecting
yourautopilottoyourMFD.

Autopilottabinthe Settings
