ConfiguringtheMFDforFirstrespondersenablesextrafeaturesthatareotherwisenotavailable
ontheMFD.SeveraloftheFirstresponderfeaturesrequireaSTEDscompatibleAIStransceiverto
provideSensitiveTacticalInformationExchangeandDisplaySystem(STEDS)functionality.
FirstresponderandSTEDSfeaturesrequire

STEDSfeaturesusetheexistingAutomaticIdentificationSystem(AIS)networktotransmitand
receivemessagesanddatabutasthemessagesanddataareencryptedtheyarenotvisibleor
availabletostandardClassAandClassBAISreceivers/transceivers.
