Troubleshooting
System indicates poor
transducer tracking quality
 The tracking sensor is not properly
attached to the transducer.
 Verify that the sensor has been
attached to the transducer as
described in the manufacturer's
instructions.
 The magnetic field (transmitter) is
causing interference with the
 Verify that the transmitter is at least
24 inches (61 cm) from the electronics
 Metal objects or electromagnetic field
emissions near the tracking field are
causing magnetic field distortion.
 Remove potential sources of magnetic
field distortion or reposition the
tracking system or patient.
System indicates that the
transducer sensor is
unplugged
The transducer sensor is not connected
to the electronics unit or is connected to
the wrong port on the electronics unit.
Verify that the transducer sensor is
connected to the correct port on the
electronics unit.

Electronics Unit, p. 9-27
System indicates that needle
sensor is unplugged
The needle sensor is not connected to
the electronics unit or is connected to
the wrong port on the electronics unit.
Verify that the needle sensor is
connected to port 4 on the electronics
unit.
No data is displayed
Transmitter or sensor is disconnected or
the connection is faulty.
Verify that the transmitter and sensor
cables are securely connected to the
electronics unit.
Data is too noisy (for
example, random changes in
the position and orientation of
the tracking data)
 Excessive electrical noise from other
electrical and magnetic devices is
interfering with the tracking system.
 Power off the electrical equipment
operating near the electronics unit to
determine the source of the noise.
 Remove the equipment (source of the
noise) from the area.
 If the equipment is critical, increase
the distance between the equipment
and the sensor, or decrease the
distance between the sensor and the
transmitter.
 Power line frequency is set
incorrectly.
 Verify that the correct power line
frequency (50 Hz or 60 Hz) is
configured.
System Config > Service
Poor data accuracy (for
example, the tracking system
does not accurately depict the
position and orientation of the
transducer)
Metal near the tracking system is
causing magnetic distortion.
Remove or reduce the amount of metal
near the tracking system, including areas
around the transmitter and the area
between the sensor and the transmitter.
System indicates inability to
initialize alignment or perform
The tracking sensor is too far from the
transducer.
Verify that the sensor has been attached
to the transducer as described in the
manufacturer's instructions.
