to receive the ESMC protocol data units (PDU) for 5 seconds.

1. Verify if the far end port is enabled for SyncE and is sending ESMC PDUs.
2. Verify if the Ethernet link is up on the client and SA alarms are not present on it.

The Rear Panel Ethernet Link Removed condition, if enabled in the network defaults, is raised under the
following conditions:
• The node.network.general.AlarmMissingBackplaneLAN field in NE default is enabled.
• The node is configured as a gateway network element (GNE).
• The backplane LAN cable is removed.
Clear the ETH-LINKLOSS Alarm

1. To clear this condition, reconnect the backplane LAN cable. Refer to the Hardware Installation Guide for
procedures to install this cable.
