This alarm is demoted by a path label mismatch (PLM) such as LP-PLM.
By default, an HP-ENCAP-MISMATCH alarm causes an ML-Series card data link to go down. This behavior
can be modified using the command-line interface (CLI) command no pos trigger defect encap.

DETAILED STEPS
Step 1 Ensure that the correct framing mode is in use on the receiving card by completing the following steps:
a) In node view, double-click the ML-Series card to display the card view.
b) Click the Provisioning > Card tabs.
c) In the Mode drop-down list, ensure that the correct mode (GFP-F or HDLC) is selected. If it is not, choose it and
click Apply.
Step 2 Ensure that the correct framing mode is in use on the transmit card, and that it is identical to the framing mode used on
the receiving card by completing the following steps:
a) In node view, double-click the ML-Series card to display the card view.
b) Click the Provisioning > Card tabs.
c) In the Mode drop-down list, ensure that the same mode (GFP-F or HDLC) is selected. If it is not, choose it and click
Apply.
Step 3 If the alarm does not clear, use the ML-Series card CLI to ensure that the remaining settings are correctly configured:
Encapsulation
CRC size
Scrambling state
To open the interface, click the card view IOS tab and click Open IOS Connection.
