authentication-key (OSPF virtual link)
authentication-key (OSPF virtual link)
To assign a password to be used by an Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) virtual link, use the
authentication-key command. To remove a previously assigned OSPF password, use the no form of this
command.
authentication-key [0 | 3] password
no authentication-key
Syntax Description

Command Modes OSPF virtual link configuration mode
Command History
Usage Guidelines Use the authentication-key command to configure the password for password authentication on an
OSPF virtual link. All devices on the same virtual link must have the same password to be able to
exchange OSPF information.
This command requires the LAN Base Services license.
Examples This example shows how to enable the authentication key with the string yourpass:
switch# configure terminal
switch(config)# router ospf 22
switch(config-router)# area 99 virtual-link 192.0.2.12
switch(config-router-vlink)# authentication
switch(config-router-vlink)# authentication-key yourpass
switch(config-router-vlink)#
Related Commands

password Any continuous string of characters that can be entered from the
keyboard up to 8 bytes.
