thereisa2to5seconddelaybeforechargingbegins.WhentheACcordisconnected,thechargerperformsastart-up
self-test(allthreechargerstatusindicatorsonthefrontofthechargerashONatthesametime).
Thechargersuppliedwiththeelectricvehicleresolvesthemostcommonproblemsassociatedwithbatterycharging.
Thechargerutilizessophisticatedchargeterminationcriteriontoshutoffautomatically,preventingthepossibilityof
eitherunderchargingorovercharging.Thechargeraccomplishesthisbymonitoringbatteryvoltage,chargecurrent,
chargetimeandusingstrictdV/dtterminationcriterion.
Batteriesshouldneverbeleftinadischargedstate,asthistooaffectstheinternalcomponentsandcanreducethe
capacityofthebattery.Thebatteriesshouldbechargedeverydaytheyareused.However,thebatteriesshould
notbechargediftheyhavenotbeenused.

meetthecriteriaoftheCanadianStandardsAssociation.

ThisbatterychargeriscompliantwiththeEUEMCDirective2004/108/EC.
PLUGANDRECEPTACLE
Thechargercord,plug,andreceptaclearewearitemsandshouldbeinspecteddaily.Visuallyinspectforcracks,
looseconnections,frayedwiringorbentpins;theymustbeimmediatelyreplacedwhenwornordamaged.Donot
attempttostraightenabentpin.Ifchargerplugorreceptacleshowsignsofcorrosionortheplugisdifculttoinsert
orremove,checkforbentpins,thencleanthereceptaclecontactsandplugterminalswithagoodelectricalcontact
cleanerorlightcoatingofWD-40
®
brandspraylubricant.Theplugshouldthenbeinsertedandremovedseveraltimes
toensureeaseofinsertion,easeofremoval,andgoodelectricalcontact.
DANGER
•Topreventre,immediatelyreplacebatterychargerDCcordplugandreceptacleifthefollowing
conditionsexist:
–Plugpinshavewornnickelplatingandcopperisexposed.
–Plugrequiresaninordinateamountofforcetoinsertintoreceptacle,especiallyifaccompanied
bya“grinding”feel.
WARNING
•Ifpinsarebent,theplugmustbereplacedimmediately.Theplugisnotserviceable.Donotattemptto
repairtheplugorstraightenbentpins.
•DisconnecttheACcordpriortolubricatingtheplugandreceptacle.
NOTE:IfthewarningtaghasbeendamagedorremovedfromtheDCcord,haveitreplacedimmediately.
