4.1.Usethedriveclutchholdertool(1)whiletighteningorlooseningthedriveclutchretainingbolt(2)(Figure

4.2.Hookclutchholderonboss(3)ofpulleylocatedbehinddriveclutchandpushagainsttheadjacentboss
withholder.
5.Lubricatethethreadedportionoftheclutchpullertool(1)withalightoilandthreadtheclutchpullertoolintothe
clutchretainingbolthole(Figure23-4,Page23-5).
6.Usea1/2-in.driveairwrenchtotightentheclutchpullertool.Thedriveclutch(2)willpullfreeofthecrankshaft.
7.Supportthedriveclutchassemblyinyourhandandbacktheclutchpullertooloutofthecrankshaft.
CAUTION
•Donothitortaptheclutchwithahammer.Donotprytheclutch.Theseactionswilldamagetheclutch.
DRIVECLUTCHCLEANINGANDINSPECTION
1.Useadry,lint-freeclothtocleanclutchparts.
CAUTION
•Donotlubricatethedriveclutch.Lubricantsattractdirtanddust,whichinterferewithproperclutch
operation.
•Useonlyadryclothtolightlywipetheshaftofthexedsheave(18)(Figure23-2,Page23-4).Donot
useabrushorsteelwool.Thesewilldamagethesurfaceoftheshaft.
•Donotusesolvents.Solventswilldamagethelubricatingcharacteristicsofthebushings.
2.Inspectthebeltcontactsurfacesoftheclutchsheavesforwear.Ifanyareaofasheavecontactsurfacehaswear
of0.060in.(1.52mm)ormore,theclutchshouldbereplaced.

•Thedriveclutchisbalancedasanassembly.Beforedisassembly,makematchmarksonthedrive
clutchhubandonthemoveablesheavesotheycanbereassembledinthesamepositions(Figure
