GOVERNORSYSTEM
Thegovernorsystemregulatesvehiclegroundspeed.Itismountedinsidethetransaxleandisdrivenbytransaxle
gears.Ifanyofthegovernorlinkagesareremovedinordertoserviceothercomponents,readjustmentofthegovernor
linkageisrequired.SeeGovernorCableInstallationandAdjustmentonpage21-3.
TRANSAXLESERVICE
Thetransaxleisextremelydurableandshouldrequireverylittleserviceundernormaloperatingconditions.Theonly
servicerequiredistomaintainproperlubricantlevel.SeeLubricationonpage24-2.Undernormaloperating
conditions,adjustmenttothesystemshouldnotberequired.
LUBRICATION
Therearetwooilportplugslocatedontheright(drivenclutch)sideofthetransaxle(Figure24-2,Page24-3).When
thevehicleisonalevelsurface,usetheupperplugasalubricantlevelindicator.Lubricantlevelshouldbeevenwith
thebottomoflevelindicatorhole.Usethelowerplugfordraining.
OilChange–Transaxle
1.Whendrainingtransaxleoil,removebothplugstoallowtheoiltodrainfaster.
2.Cleanandreinstallthedrainplugandgasketbeforellingthetransaxlewithnewlubricant.Tightendrainplugto
17lb·ft(23N·m).
3.Useafunnelwhenllingthetransaxlethroughthelubricantlevelindicatorhole.Fillwith67.6-oz(2L)80-90

levelindicatorhole).
4.Installupperplugandgasketandtightento17lb·ft(23N·m).
