DRIVEBELT
Thedrivebeltshouldbeinspectedsemiannuallyforwearand(or)glazing.Ifitisexcessivelyworn,frayed,or
glazed,replacethebelt.
Asthedrivebeltwears,theengineRPMwillincreasetocompensateforthechangeintorqueconverterratio.Thiswill
keepthevehicle’smaximumgroundspeedcorrect.SeeVehicleSpecications.
DRIVEBELTREMOVAL
1.Disconnectbatteryandsparkplugwire.SeeDisconnecttheBattery-GasolineVehiclesonpage1-3.
2.Graspthebeltmidwaybetweenthedrive(2)anddriven(1)clutches.Liftupwardonthebelttoforcethesheaves
ofthedrivenclutch(1)apart,thenrollthebeltoffthedrivenclutchbyrotatingtheclutchcounterclockwise
(Figure23-1,Page23-3).SeefollowingCAUTION.
CAUTION
•Makesurengersarenotunderneaththebeltwhenrollingthebeltoffthedrivenclutch.
NOTE:Rollawayfromcompressiontomakeremovaleasier.
3.Removethebeltfromthedriveclutch(2).
