RELIEVINGFUELPRESSURE
IntheeventthatservicingtheEFIfuelsystemnecessitatesremovalofthefueldeliveryhose,extremecautionmustbe
exercised.Thefuelsystemisunderhighpressureevenwiththeenginenotrunning.Disconnectinganypartofthe
fueldeliverysystem,withoutrstdepressurizingthesystem,willresultinasuddenreleaseofpressurizedgasolineat
theconnection.Topreventpossibleseriousinjuryordeath,fuelpressuremustberelievedbeforedisconnectingor
removingthepump,hoseandthrottlebody.
EitherofthesesuggestedproceduresMUSTbefollowedbeforeattemptingANYserviceworkontheEFIfuelsystem.
Followingthesewillrelieveanypressureinthefuelhosepriortoopeningthefuelsystem.
TORELIEVEFUELPRESSURE
Option1:
1.TurnthekeyswitchtoOFF.
2.Disconnectthebattery.
3.Wait15minutesormoretoletthefuelpressuredissipate.
Option2:
1.TurnthekeyswitchtoOFF.
2.Disconnectthefuelpumpmoduleatthefueltank.
3.Cranktheenginefor5secondstostartreducingthefuelpressure.
4.Waitfor2-5seconds.
5.Cranktheenginefor5secondstoletthefuelpressuredissipate.
NOTE:Toabsorbanyresidualfuelthemaybepresentinthefuelhose,placearagortowelaroundthehoseat
theendbeingdisconnected.
