v 1.0 — February 2020 Altanium Matrix5
94 Earth Leakage/Wet Heater Bake Out System
9.2 Earth Leakage/Wet Heater Bake Out System
The Altanium is equipped with an Earth Leakage/Wet Heater Bake Out system. When the
system is started, the Altanium continuously does checks for earth leakage conditions on all
heaters in the mold at the same time. When necessary, the system starts a low voltage bake
out on the zones that have earth leakage failures to try to bake the moisture out of the
heaters.
9.2.1 Earth Leakage Limit
For X Cards (ICC
2
):
• The system shows an earth leakage error if the percentage is over the user specified
percentage limit, or if a zone has not gone through diagnostics, based on a default value
of 0.2 amps.
• The system shows a bake out error if the amperage is not below the user specified Bake
Out Limit with a default value of 0.2 amps and an adjustable range from 0 to 5 amps. A
value of 0.2 amps or higher, but lower than the earth leakage limit, will trigger a bake out
error.
• The calculated earth leakage limit or the default value is compared to the minimum limit
and the lower of the two values is applied.
For H Cards (ICC
3
):
• The cards include a sensor to continuously monitor leakage current in the heater circuit.
The system will show an earth leakage error based on the user specified Earth Leakage
Fault Limit with a default value of 500 milliamps and an adjustable range from 1 to 999
milliamps.
• The system will show a bake out error based on the user specified Bake Out Limit with a
default value of 200 milliamps and an adjustable range from 1 to 999 milliamps. Any
value of 200 milliamps or higher, but lower than the earth leakage limit, will trigger a
bake out error.
9.2.1.1 Set the Earth Leakage Limit
To set the earth leakage limit, do the steps that follow:
1. On the Home screen, touch the System Setup button.
2. On the System Setup screen, touch the Heats Setup tab and then the Monitoring tab.
3. In the Earth Leakage area of the screen, touch the Earth Leakage Limit field.
4. Type a limit value.
5. Touch the Accept button.
NOTE: For ICC
2
cards, the value is entered as a percentage that is used to calculate the
earth leakage limit when the diagnostic operation for a zone is complete. The
range is from 0 to 100% with a default value of 10%. For ICC
3
cards, the value is
entered in milliamps. The range is from 1 to 999 mA with a default value of
500 mA.
