80 Manual ART Function
7.7.1.1 Manual ART Function
If there is a change to a zone, such as the replacement of a heat element or thermocouple, it
could be necessary for an operator to reset the ART parameters for that zone. Poor control of
the zone could also cause an operator to do the reset. For example, the temperatures go over
and under the setpoint, but this does not trigger an alarm. This is not to be confused with
shear heat from the material, which shows as sudden increases in temperature with no
undershoot.
After the system is started, the ART process automatically starts on all zones that have not yet
gone through the ART process. If a zone is not controlled correctly when it gets to its setpoint,
ART can manually be run on that zone.
When ART is run manually on a zone, the Altanium system deletes its knowledge base on that
zone and recalculates the control process. It then stores this data and uses it to calculate the
correct output to control this zone best at setpoint. Use this function carefully and only let
approved individuals use it. The molding process may be interrupted if ART is run on several
zones at one time, but this would be an unusual condition. It is best to run ART on a zone
when it is at the temperature setpoint.
Reset ART Process Touch the Reset ART Process button to reset the ART parameters for the
selected zones. The next time the system is started, it will do the ART
process on those zones again.
Edit ART Values Touch the Edit ART Values button to open the Edit ART Values dialog
window and see or change the ART parameters. ART values can be
changed one zone at a time, while the controller is in operation.
Table 7-17 ART Status Descriptions
Symbol Description
? The question mark shows the ART process has not been started or a zone
has not been through the ART process.
X The X shows there is a problem with the zone. This problem will not let
the ART process start.
Hourglass An hourglass shows that the ART process is in operation.
Checkmark A checkmark indicates that the ART process is complete.
