Configure the Length and Number of Bake Out Cycles 95
User Guide v 1.0 — February 2020 Heat the Mold
9.2.2 Configure the Length and Number of Bake Out Cycles
The low voltage bake out operation will run up to five cycles, if necessary. The time for each
cycle can be set from one to 30 minutes. The system mode and system timer shows each
bake out cycle that is in progress.
When a bake out cycle is complete, the system makes a decision to do the bake out cycle
again, if necessary. If the Bake Out Alert Enable parameter is ON and moisture stays in the
system after the selected number of bake out cycles have completed, the system
automatically does a shutdown and triggers a bake out alarm. If there is no moisture in the
system after the selected number of bake out cycles have completed, the soft start operation
starts.
To configure the length of each bake out cycle, do the steps that follow:
1. On the System Setup screen, in the Bake Out area, touch the Bake Out Time Per Cycle
field.
2. Enter the desired value.
3. Touch the Accept button.
To configure the number of bake out cycles, do the following:
1. On the System Setup screen, in the Bake Out area, touch the Number of Bake Out
Cycles field.
2. Type the number of cycles.
3. Touch the Accept button.
9.3 Soft Start
During the soft start operation, all of the Altanium zones increase in temperature at the same
time and at the same rate. The soft start operation causes an even thermal expansion and
identical residence time on the material.
NOTE: Soft start is not in operation during the staged startup.
When the Start button is touched and the system starts, the Altanium does the operations
that follow:
1. The Bake Out starts, if necessary.
2. If the ART process has not been done, it will start.
NOTE: The ART Process screen will show at the Soft Start.
3. “Soft Start” shows in the system status field. The power applied to the heaters is different
from the probes to the manifold zones. The probes receive less power and the manifolds
receive more. All of the zones increase in temperature at the same rate to make sure
there is an even thermal transfer in the mold. This helps to prevent mold leakage.
4. When all temperatures are near their setpoint, “Running” is shown in the system status
field.
