Overview
10-1-1 Periodic Maintenance Inspections
It has been determined by GE that your Voluson i / Voluson e system does not have any high wear
components, therefore no Periodic Maintenance Inspections are mandatory.
However, to maintain the safety and performance of the ultrasound system, a regular check by
authorized personnel remains recommended.
10-1-2 Purpose of Chapter 10
This chapter describes Care & Maintenance on the ultrasound system and its peripherals.
These procedures are intended to maintain the quality of the ultrasound systems performance.
Read this chapter completely and familiarize yourself with the procedures before performing a task.

Practice good ESD prevention. Wear an anti–static strap when handling electronic parts and
even when disconnecting/connecting cables.
!! WARNING:
THERE ARE SEVERAL PLACES ON THE BACKPLANE, THE AC DISTRIBUTION
AND DC DISTRIBUTION THAT ARE DANGEROUS. BE SURE TO DISCONNECT
THE SYSTEM POWER PLUG AND REMOVE THE BATTERY, BEFORE YOU
REMOVE ANY PARTS. BE CAUTIOUS WHENEVER POWER IS STILL ON AND
COVERS ARE REMOVED.
!! CAUTION:
Do not operate this unit unless all board covers and frame panels are securely in place.
System performance and cooling require this.
