parameter. Tuning of the software model for the user applications is described in Section 6.6.2. Note that the Data
Logger can be used to record Torque Demand and Observer Position Error, in a convenient way during observer tuning.
While the Advanced Options dialog box is active, the Up and Down arrow keys on the keyboard or the arrows to the
right of the Observer Inertia field can be used to adjust the parameter value up or down by 5% with each key or mouse
button press. The Automatic Update check box should be checked to force changes made to the Observer Inertia field
to be immediately sent to the servo-drive. If the Automatic Update check box is not ticked, the parameter value in the
drive can be updated by clicking the Update button.
7.11.4.2 Control Mode
The torque command, which is generated in Velocity Mode, is filtered using an internal digital filter. It may be
necessary in some applications to optimise this digital filtering.
Velocity Mode 1
st
Order: A first order filter is used whose only setting is its Low Pass Cutoff filter frequency in Hz.
Velocity Mode 2
nd
Order: A second order filter is used which needs a Low Pass Cutoff filter frequency in Hz and a
Damping Factor to be specified.
NOTE: The Low Pass Cut-off and the Damping Factor are set to safe values which
depend upon the motor model selected. Consequently the motor should be configured
before changing these values.
