T200 User's Manual SECTION 3: WIRING AND INSTALLATION
PAGE 3-12
3.1.4.2 120 V a.c. Control-Backup Power Supply
The 120V a.c. Power Supply allows high voltage motor power to be removed from the T200 Series Servo-drive without
losing control power.
The acceptable voltage range for this supply is 120 V a.c. +10/-15%, with a minimum current rating of 0.3 A a.c. per
T200 Servo-drive connected.
3.1.5 Note on cases where the user does not need to use a Control-Backup Power-
Supply
The T200 can generate control power from its internal high voltage D.C. Bus, if that internal high voltage is greater than
250Vd.c.
§ The critical mains input voltage level, above which logic backup power can be drawn from the ac mains, is
170Va.c. Below this voltage level, a separate 24V DC or 120Va.c. backup power supply must be used.
§ If 230Va.c. single or three phase mains is supplied directly to the T200, then the T200 can operate without a
control-backup power supply. It will however lose absolute position information when the a.c. mains power is
removed.
§ If 120Va.c. mains is used to supply the D.C. Bus, then the internal high voltage is not sufficient to generate control
power. In this case, the user must connect either a backup 120Va.c. isolated mains power source to the T200's
120Va.c. control-backup input, OR connect a backup 24Vd.c. power source to the T200's 24Vd.c. control-backup
input.
3.1.6 Brushless Servo motors
The T200 series Servo-drive is compatible with the Moog G4XX and G3XX range of brushless servo motors.
The G4XX series brushless motors are offered in five frame sizes (see Section 4 for an overview of the motor range).
Motors are also available with an optional static holding brake.
Normal connection to the motor requires two cables:- a power and a signal cable. The power cable provides three phase
stator power, protective earth and brake connections. The signal cable carries position transducer feedback signals and
motor temperature detection connections.
3.1.6.1 Brushless Motor Brake 24V Power Supply
Note that the motor brake requires a 24V ±15% supply for release. This should be rated to cover at least twice the sums
of the rated currents of all brakes connected (see Section 4.5.7). Moog recommends that, if long (>5m) motor power
cable runs are used in the application, that a separate 24V ±15% power source is used for the brakes.
3.1.7 Heatsinks and Climatic Control
The need for air conditioning will depend on the duty cycle of the system and the surrounding ambient temperature. The
maximum allowable ambient temperature is 55°C (131°F). The humidity range is 5-95% non-condensing.
All T200 Servo-drives incorporate internal cooling fans and integral heat sinks. Other than controlling ambient
conditions, additional heat sinking is not required.
Caution
- The 120Va.c. backup must be isolated from the T200 a.c. mains input (in
both of the cases where the T200 a.c. mains connection is 3 phase or single phase).
