Starting System: 1I-10
8) Turn the ignition switch OFF.
9) Install the left frame cover. Refer to “Exterior Parts
Removal and Installation (GSF650/S/A/SAK7) in
Section 9D (Page 9D-6)”.
Starter Clutch Removal and Installation

Removal
1) Drain engine oil.
2) Remove the generator rotor assembly (1). Refer to
“Generator Removal and Installation in Section 1J
(Page 1J-4)”.
3) Remove the key (2) and starter driven gear (3).
4) Hold the generator rotor with the special tools and
remove the starter clutch bolts.
Special tool
(A): 09930–44530 (Rotor holder)
(B): 09930–11920 (Torx bit (JT40H))
5) Remove the one way clutch (4) from the guide (5).
Installation
Install the starter clutch in the reverse order of removal.
Pay attention to the following points:
• When inserting the one way clutch (1) into the guide
(2), fit the flange “A” in the step of the guide (2).
NOTE
Be sure to seat the flange “A” of the one way
clutch (1) to the guide (2).
