PISTON AND CYLINDER
Install
the piston and cylinder in the reverse order of removal.
NOTE:
Install the piston
with
the punch mark © on the piston head
facing exhaust
side.
•
Apply
molybdenum
oil solution onto the piston pin.
•
Place
a
clean rag over the cylinder
base
to prevent the pis-
ton
pin
circlip
from dropping into the crankcase, and then fit
the
piston pin
circlip
with
long-nose pliers.
A CAUTION
Use
a new piston pin circlip to prevent the circlip fail-
ure which
will
occur
with
a bent one.
•
Apply
molybdenum
oil solution
to
the small
end of
the con-
rod.
•
Apply engine oil
to
the sliding surface
of
the piston
and big
end of the conrod.
Install
the dowel pins
©
and new gasket
©
onto the crank-
case.
A CAUTION
Use
a new gasket to prevent oil leakage.
•
Hold each piston ring
with
the piston ring sections positioned
correctly
and put it
into the cylinder.
Make
sure the piston
rings are caught by the cylinder
skirt.
NOTE:
When
mounting the cylinder, after attaching the camshaft drive
chain,
keep
the camshaft drive chain
taut.
The camshaft drive
chain must not be caught between the cam drive chain
sprocket
and
crankcase
when the crankshaft is rotated.
