Theory of Operation
Fusing (Fuser)
The Fuser Assembly fuses the complete toner image that was transferred onto the
paper, using heat and pressure.
Fuser Assembly (PL7.1.1)
The Fuser Assembly consists of the following main components.
• Heat Roll - A tube-covered hollow metal roll, which applies heat to the paper
to fuse toner on it.
• Pressure Belt - A belt that contains a pressure system within it. This works in
configuration with the Heat Roll to apply pressure to the paper to fuse toner
on it.
• Main Heater Lamp - The Main Heater Lamps are located within the Heat Roll
which are sealed by the heating coils that heat up the left and right ends of
the Heat Roll.
• Sub Heater Lamp - The Sub Heater Lamps are located within the Heat Roll
which are sealed by the heating coils that heat up the center part of the Heat
Roll.
