MAINDROPOUT(1OR2)
Ifthecontrollerdetectsthatthesolenoidcontactshaveopenedwhilethevehicleisinoperation,amaindropoutfault
isdetected.
Whatitmeans:Occurswhenthesolenoidcoillossesgroundcausingthemaincontacttoloseconnection.WithMain
Dropout2,thesolenoiddropsoutwhilethevehicleisinregen/motorbraking.MainDropout2isusuallyasymptom
morethanacause.
Whattodo:Checkthefollowingcomponents:keyswitch,MCOR,batteries,batterycables,FNR,solenoidcoil,
solenoidcontacts,andcontroller16-pinconnector.
MOTORSTALL
Ifthemotorcurrentishighandthereisnomovementofthevehiclewheelsforashortperiodoftime,amotorstallis
detectedbythespeedcontroller.Thisfaultcanbecausedbyanoperatorholdingthevehicleonahillbydepressing
theacceleratorpedalinsteadofthebrakepedal.
Whatitmeans:Thisfaultappearsanytimecurrentisrunningtothemotorandnomovementofthearmature
isregistered.
Whattodo:Inmostcasesthisisanoperatorissueholdingthevehicleonaninclinewiththeacceleratorpedal,
notthebrakepedal.SeefollowingNOTE.
NOTE:Inrarecases,itcouldbeacontrollerordrivetrainissue.Ifthevehiclerolls,thedrivetrainisokay.Checktosee
ifArmatureCurrentspikesto250ampswhenacceleratorpedalispressed.Ifso,replacecontroller.
MAINDRIVEROFF
IftheFETthatcontrolstheclosingofthesolenoidisnotenergizedwhenitshouldbe,amaindriverofffaultis
detectedbythespeedcontroller.
Whatitmeans:Thisistheexactoppositeofmaindriveron.ThecontrollerFETcontrollingtheenergizingofthe
solenoidisoff(ornotenergized)whenitshouldbe.
Whattodo:Replacecontroller.
CURRENTSENSEFAULT
Whatitmeans:Ifthereareproblemswiththearmaturecurrentsensorcircuitry,acurrentsensefaultisdetectedand
thecontrollerde-energizesthesolenoidcoil.
Whattodo:CleartheFaultHistoryintheCDT.Ifthefaultdoesnotreturnandthecaroperatesnormally,do
notreplacethecontroller.IfthefaultremainsinSystemFaultsorFaultHistoryafterclearingandthecarwillnot
operate,replacethecontroller.
M–SHORTED
IfanuncontrolledcurrentpathisdetectedfromthemotortoB-(bypassingtheMOSFETs),anM-shortedfault
isdetected.
