1.Usingacleancloth,wipethecarbondustfromthetwobearings.Inspectbearingsbyspinningthembyhandand
checkingforbothaxial(A)andradial(B)play(Figure19-7,Page19-5).
2.Replacethebearingifitisnoisy,doesnotspinsmoothly,orhasexcessiveplay.Checkthebearingsandreplaceif
rusted,worn,cracked,orifthereisanabnormalcolorchangeinthemetalofthebearing.Bearingsshouldbe
replacedifthereisextensivewearorpittingontheballsorontherollingsurfaces.Donotremovethebearings
unlesstheyaretobereplaced.
