10.Removescrews(9)holdingtheforwardendofthefueltankretainer(4).Liftupontheforwardendoftheretainer
(4)andunhooktherearendfromthefuelbucket.
11.Ifequipped,removeretentiontube(16)frombetweenfueltank(10)andfuelbucket.
12.Liftthefueltank(10)fromvehicle.
FUELTANKDISPOSAL
1.Removegascapandfuelpumpmodulefromtank.SeeFuelPumpModuleRemovalonpage21-20.The
capmaybediscardedorkeptasaspare.
2.Inawell-ventilatedarea,ushthefueltankwithwatertoremoveanyremainingfuel.
3.Inawell-ventilatedarea,setthetankupsidedownsothatthewatercandrainoutofit.Tomakesurethatthetank
driescompletely,allowthetanktositfor24hours.SeefollowingCAUTION.
CAUTION
•Disposeofwastewaterandfueltankinaccordancewithlocal,state,andfederallawsandordinances.
FUELTANKSTORAGE
1.Removegascapandfuelpumpmodulefromtank.SeeFuelPumpModuleRemovalonpage21-20.
2.Inawell-ventilatedarea,ushthefueltankwithwatertoremoveanyremainingfuel.
3.Inawell-ventilatedarea,setthetankupsidedownsothatthewatercandrainoutofit.Tomakesurethatthetank
driescompletely,allowthetanktositfor24hours.
4.Completelydraingasfromfuelpumpmoduleandallowtomoduletodry.
5.Aftermoduleiscompletelydry,installinfueltank.SeeFuelPumpModuleInstallationonpage21-20.
6.Storethetankupsidedown,withthecapinstalled,inawell-ventilatedarea.

NOTE:ThisgasolinevehiclecomplieswiththeCaliforniaAirResourcesBoard(CARB)andEPAevaporative
emissionsregulationswhenequippedwithSAEJ30R91/4in(6.3mm)fuelventhoseand3/16in(4.78mm)
fuelventhose.ToremainincompliancewithCaliforniaandEPAregulations,replaceanyfuelventhoseon
thisvehiclewithClubCarfuelventhosesorequivalent.
1.Placefueltank(10)invehicle.
2.Insertretentiontube(16)betweenfueltank(10)andfuelbucket.
3.Securetankwithretainer(4).
3.1.Insertthetabsontherearoftheretainer(4)intotheslotsonthebackofthefuelbucket(Figure21-15,
Page21-22).
3.2.Pivotretainer(4)toplacethefrontedgeovermountingholes.Installscrews(9)tosecuretheretainer.
Tightenscrewsto31in·lb(3.5N·m).
