GENERALINFORMATION
WARNING
•TopreventdamagetotheECU,nevermixtheblackandgrayconnectorsthatattachtoit.Theblack
connectoristetheredtotheECUmountingplatetohelpavoidinstallingitinthegrayport.
ThissectioncontainstheinformationrequiredtocorrectlytroubleshoottheEFIgasvehicle.Inadditionto
troubleshooting,thissectioncontainsgeneralinformationontheelectricalsystemandthecircuitsoftheelectrical
system.
ACCESSORIES
Forcertainpoweredaccessories,usethe9-pinconnectorlocatedbehindtheinstrumentpanel.
LOWOILWARNINGLIGHT
NOTE:WhenthekeyswitchisplacedintheONposition,theLowOilWarningLightwillilluminateforapproximately3
secondsasabulbcheckfunction.
IftheLowOilWarningLightcomesONduetolowoillevel,andoilisaddedtocorrecttheissue,theLowOil
WarningLightwillstillremainON.CyclethekeyswitchOFFandONtoresettheLowOilWarningLight.
Thegasolinevehicleisequippedwithalowoilwarninglight(4),locatedatthetopoftheinstrumentpanel.Ifthe
warninglightcomeson,oilshouldbecheckedandaddedtotheengineasnecessarybeforecontinuingtousethe
vehicle.SeefollowingCAUTION.Thevehicleshouldneverbedrivenwhenthelowoilwarninglightremainson.Ifthe
warninglightgoesonandoff,thevehiclemaybedriven,butoilshouldbeaddedattheîš¿rstopportunity.Thelightwill
ashrepeatedlytoindicateapossibleproblemwiththeelectronicfuelinjection(EFI)system.Iftheoilleveliscorrect
andthewarninglightstayson,haveatrainedtechniciancheckthevehicle.
CAUTION
•Failuretoaddoilimmediatelywhenthelowoilwarninglightstaysonmayresultinpermanent
enginedamage.
GROUNDLOCATIONS
Electricalgroundsarelocatedatthefollowingareas:
•AttheBattery:Thestarter/generator,voltageregulator,ECU,throttlepositionsensorandfuelpumpmoduleall
connecttothemainwireharnessandgoestotheB–batteryterminal.
•BetweenEngineandBattery:Theengineandchassiseachhaveaseparateleadthatconnectstothemainwire
harnessandgoestotheB–batteryterminal.
