1.Disconnectthebatteriesanddischargethecontroller.SeeDisconnectingtheBatteries–ElectricVehicles

2.Placechocksatthefrontwheelsandslightlyloosenlugnutsonbothrearwheels.SeeWARNING“Liftonlyone
end...”inGeneralWarningsonpage1-2.
3.Placeaoorjackunderthetransaxleandraisetherearofthevehicle.Positionjackstandsunderthealuminum
framerailsforwardofthespringmount.Lowerthevehicletoletthejackstandssupportthevehicle(Figure17-6,
Page17-5).SeeWARNING“Liftonlyoneendofthevehicle...”inGeneralWarningsonpage1-2.
4.Removetherearwheels,thenthreadonelugnutontoastudoneachrearhub.Thiswillkeepthebrakedrums
onthehubs.
5.Removethebowtiepins(1)andbrakecableclevispins(3).Usetooltocompresstangsoncableendand
removecableendfrombracket(4)(Figure17-7,Page17-5).

6.Disconnecttheshockabsorbersfromtheirlowermounts(Figure17-8,Page17-6).
7.Disconnectthefourmotorwires.Usetwowrenchestopreventthepostfromturning.

9.Ifachainhoistwasusedtoraisethevehicle,liftthevehiclehighenoughtopermiteasyaccessandclearance
forremovalofthemotor.Ifaoorjackwasusedtoraisethevehicle,lowerthetransaxleenoughtopermit
easyaccessandclearanceforremovalofthemotor.
10.Removethethreemotormountingbolts(1)(Figure17-11,Page17-6)securingthemotortothetransaxle.

CAUTION
•Donotpositionngersundermotorwhenslidingmotoroffoftheinputshaft.Fingersmayget
pinchedwhenmotordisengages.
11.Carefullyremovethemotorfromthetransaxle.Slidethemotorawayfromthetransaxleuntilthemotorspline
becomesdisengagedfromtheinputshaft,thenliftmotorout.SeeprecedingWARNING.
