Adaptive Tx Power Control Use Cases
Use Model: Warehouse Deployment
Settings
Avoid Other WLANs – On the Airport APs, ‘Avoid Other WLANs’ is disabled,
so that their power reduction calculations will not be affected by any potential
rogue APs.
RF Group Name – RF Group is configured on all APs as ‘storage 1’. All
Warehouse APs will reduce power for any other audible AP 530 in the
warehouse, regardless of the SSID configuration.
Adaptive Mode – Adaptive Mode is set to ‘AP’, so that transmit power control
of both beacons and data traffic will be attenuated, based on power levels of
audible APs in the RF Group (but not the power levels of associated clients).
Decisions: AP #1 and AP #4
AP #1 and AP #4 compare their RF Group Name [storage 1]. Since AP #1 and
AP #4 are in the same RF Group, each will consider reducing power for the
other.
Results with Adaptive Mode AP
â–  The transmit power levels of AP1 and AP4 are reduced for both data and
beacons.
â–  Power levels are optimized for maximum coverage and minimum inter-
ference between other APs in the RF Group on the same channel.
â–  Power levels will be adjusted if obstructions are moved in or out of the
RF path between APs on the same channel, or if APs are moved or
removed.
â–  Power levels are not adjusted for the signal strength of associated clients.
