Key
at
START Position
1.
Set and hold the main switch key at the STARTposition.
2.
Measure the resistance with
an
ohmmeter across the 30 terminal
and
the 19 terminal, across the 30 terminal and the 50 terminal,
and
across the 30 terminal and the AC terminal.
3.
If
0 ohm
is
not indicated, these contacts of the main switch are
faulty.

Motor
Test
A CAUTION
• Secure the
starter
to
prevent
it
from
jumping
up
and
down
while
testing
the
motor.
1.
Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery.
2.
Disconnect the battery positive cable and the leads from the
starter M terminal.
3.
Remove the starter from the engine.
4.
Disconnect the connecting lead
(2)
from the starter C terminal
(1
).
5.
Connect a jumper lead from the connecting lead
(2)
to the
battery positive terminal post.
6.
Connect a jumper lead momentarily between the starter motor
housing and the battery negative terminal post.
7.
If the motor does not
run,
check the motor.

Test
1.
Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery.
2.
Disconnect the battery positive cable and the leads from the
starter M terminal.
3.
Remove the starter from the engine.
4.
Disconnect the connecting lead
(3)
from the starter C terminal
(2).
5.
Connect a jumper lead from the starter S terminal
(1)
to the
battery positive terminal post.
6.
Connect a jumper lead momentarily between the starter C
terminal
(2)
and the battery negative terminal post.
7.
If the pinion gear does not pop out, check the magnetic switch.
• NOTE
• This
test
should
be carried
out
for
a
short
time,
about
3
to
5
seconds.
