4WD Piston
1. Press the pressure plate (4) to press down the 4WD piston (11),
using jig (see page G-77), and remove the internal circlip (3).
2. Remove the discs (5), steel plates (6), (7) and pressure plates
(4).
• 19 springs for 4WD piston.
• 4 discs and 4 steel plates for 4WD clutch side.
(When reassembling)
• Apply transmission fluid to the O-ring (12) and D-ring (9), then
install the 4WD piston (11) with 19 springs (10).
• Install the clutch discs (5) and steel plate (6), (7) mutually.
• Apply enough transmission fluid to the discs (5).
• Do not confuse the two types of steel plates.
The steel plate with plug rubbers (7) and without rubbers (6).
• Be sure the rubber (8) position of the steel plate (7) does not lie
next to the hole of the steel plate without rubber (6).
• Do not confuse the pressure plates (4) and steel plate (6). The
pressure plate (4) is thicker than the steel plate.
• When installing the internal circlip (3) to the clutch case (1),
press the pressure plate (4) using a jig and align its split portion
to the notched portion of clutch case (1) as shown in photo.
• When installing the internal circlip (3), temporary align the spline
and teeth of clutch discs using the 32T gear.
• After reassembling, perform operational check for the 4WD
clutch by using air.
