14.1.18 Network connection
Cable Network cable shall be of type Cat5e shielded cable. Shielding shall
be F/UTP, S/UTP or SF/UTP
14.1.19 Connection of external equipment
External connector To communicate via the external connector 25 pin D-Sub as USB, a
virtual COM port driver (VCD) needs to be installed on your PC.
External equipment
Additional equipment connected to medical electrical equipment shall comply with the
respective IEC or ISO standards (e.g. IEC 60950 for data processing equipment).
Furthermore all configurations shall comply with the requirements for medical electrical
systems (see clause 16 of IEC 60601-1).
Anybody connecting additional equipment to medical electrical equipment configures a
medical system and is therefore responsible that the system complies with the
requirements for medical electrical systems. Attention is drawn to the fact that local
laws take priority over the above mentioned requirements. If in doubt, consult your
local Baxter Service representative or the technical service department.
