19.6 Safe Operang Stop (SOS)
In the safe operaonal stop, the drive is not switched to torque-free operaon. All control
funcons are maintained. The reached posion remains
acve.
WARNING!
A safety-rated encoder system must be used.
Without an enc
oder, this safety funcon cannot be used.
▶
Apply a safety-rated encoder system to use this funcon.
Precondions
The drive is brought to standsll via the applicaon.

Fig. 69: SOS funcon
SOS is acvated if the motor speed is lower than the tolerance window parameterised in
0x287B:0010x287B:001, t
olerance window (n=0),.
In the SOS state, relave posion changes are added and saved in 0x289F:0030x289F:003. The
value in 0x289F:0030x289F:003 is connuously compared to the permissible value in 0x289F:
0010x289F:001.
If one of the two states occurs during a safe operaonal stop (SOS):
•
Posion is outside the tolerance window safely monitored in 0x289F:0010x289F:001
an error message is generated and STO is acvated:
When the SOS state is le, the maximum relave posioning is displayed in 0x289F:
0030x289F:003.
The 0x289F:0020x289F:002 parameter denes the restart behaviour aer SOS has been deac-
vated.
If the SOS state is requested again, the sum of the last posion changes in 0x289F:0030x289F:
003 is reset to zero.
Example:
The "SS2 acve" state is interrupted by an STO request. If the STO request is reset, the transi-
on to the SOS state will follow. The posion deviaon is reset to p = 0.
Acvaon of the funcon
The following opons are available to acvate the funcon:
•
The Sa
fe Stop 2 (SS2)
funcon^ 382
•
The safety bus, see secon "Safety bus".
•
A safe input, see secon "Safe inputs"
Behaviour of the funcon in the event of an error
In the nal state "Safe operaonal stop (SOS)", an error message is triggered if:
•
the speed e
xits the tolerance window set 0x287B:001 (n=0).
•
the
posion exits the tolerance window set 0x289F:001 (p=0).
