External Non-structural Installation
Figure 22-30 is an example of an external, non-structural mounting of the antenna in a tube-and-fabric
aircraft. The antenna support bracket shown should be made of 2024-T3 Aluminum with a minimum
material thickness 0.032” and maximum distance between airframe tubes of 36”. The bracket is installed
to the airframe under the fabric, and the antenna is mounted externally to the bracket. The generic
installation of the (Section 22.6.1
) antenna is used, with the antenna support bracket as the mounting
surface. Follow the applicable gasketing and sealant instructions in Section 22.4.2
(Teardrop style) or
Section 22.5.2
(ARINC 743 style).
