– Remove high-level brake light ⇒ Electrical system; Rep. gr.
94 ; Additional brake lights; Removing and installing bulb for
high-level brake light - M25- (saloon) .
– Unclip aerial modules -1, 3 and 4- from rear window and dis‐
connect connectors.
– The aerial modules are bonded to the window with double-
sided adhesive tape. Carefully lever off aerial module from
glass. Always renew damaged adhesive tape.
– Insert cutting cord into window flange using tube.
– Pull cutting cord through adhesive sealant material in lower
area of rear window and into interior of vehicle using awl from
cutting device for bonded windows - V.A.G 1474 A- .
– Pull the other end of the cord through into the interior and
counterhold using handle - V.A.G 1351/1- .
– Secure inner end of cord on reel device.
– Move reel device according to position required and cut win‐
dow free.
– Press cutting cord against window glass with plastic wedge
during cutting process, in order to have clearance at window
flange.
1.9 Removing broken rear window (saloon)
– Protect body and interior from glass splinters.
– Remove pieces of glass up to adhesive sealing material.
– Pull off connections for rear window heating and aerial.
– Cover flange -2- all round with textile-reinforced adhesive
tape.
– Cut through adhesive seal (with glass remains) in window cut-
out using electric cutter - V.A.G 1561 A- and u-shaped blade
- V.A.G 1561- .

Always wear safety goggles and leather gloves.
