5.8 Wheel arch trim
5.8.1 Assembly overview
Note
The front and rear wheel arch trims are essential on vehicles with 18 inch wheel/tyre combination.
1 - Front wheel arch trim
❑ Self-adhesive
❑ Removing:
– Lightly heat wheel arch
trim with hot air blower -
V.A.G 1416- and pull off
carefully.
❑ Installing:
– Press forcefully onto
surface cleaned with ad‐
hesive remover - D 002
000 10- .
2 - Protective sheet
❑ Remove just before
bonding.
3 - Adhesive tape
❑ Integral part of wheel
arch trim.
4 - Front wing
5 - Distance gauge
❑ Dimension -a- is 50 mm.
6 - Rear bumper cover
7 - Rear wheel arch trim
❑ Self-adhesive and se‐
cured with a wheel
housing liner bolt.
❑ Removing:
– Unscrew bolt -8-.
– Lightly heat wheel arch
trim with hot air blower -
V.A.G 1416- and pull off carefully.
❑ Installing:
– Press forcefully onto surface cleaned with adhesive remover - D 002 000 10- and screw on.
8 - Bolt
❑ Specified torque: 2 Nm
